TOBACCONIST FINED £25

Edgar Prior, a tobacconist, was charged in the Magistrate's Court at Lower Hutt to-day With having used the premises at 182, Jackspn street/Pcto'nc, ac a common gaming house. He pleaded guilty.

Detoctive, W. M'Lonnan said that the defendant had "been bookmaking at his tobacconist's shop for some months past, as agent for. another. A search of the premises revealed a book of bets. Prior had said that £2 was the most ho had taken on any day. In 1925 he had been fined £25 on a charge similar to the present one.

Mr. W. 11. Woodward, S.M., imposed a fine of £25, and allowed the defendant a month to pay.
