LONDON, 16th November.
In the British heavyweight champion« ship at Leicester, fifteen rounds, Reggie Mccn (Leicester) outpointed Charlie Smith (Dcptford).
•Meen, who is aged 23, is the youngest boxer to hold the I British title. His victory was a surprise, as Smith won. two previous fights, but- Meen was more aggressive and boxed well throughout.
He started with a two-handed bodyassault, Smith replying with punishing lefts. There was a good deal of-futile pushing and clinching. until tho sixth round, when Meen's left-handed swings twice sent Smith through the ' ropes, but he managed to survive the round. Meen, seemed tq/bp tiring out, but early in the ninth he $o.Wiied Smith for a short count, after ".XVMch ho sailed in regardless of Smith's- defensive punches, and finished strongly, staggering Smith with right-handed blows to the face.
