FIFTEEN MINUTES' SERVICE

(To the Editor:)

Sir,—Coming off the evening train from Otaki on Sunday, and walking up Pipitea street, I was unfortunately compelled to wait nearly 20 minutes for a Karoribound car. On questioning the conductor, I was informed that owing to the council's economy programme cars ran only every 15 minutes, and this for a population of 10,000. People can hang on almost anywhere, but if the motorman or conductor thinks there are enough on a car you can wait for a further 15 minutes or walk. We are told that the trams are losing money.' Can you wonder at it? By all means, let us have western access and the sooner the better; but in the meantime let us have service on the merry-go-round 'of Tinakori, road and Molesworth street.—l am, etc., TRAM RIDER.

WELLINGTON NORTH

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—Electors of Wellington North are sorely troubled over the position in that electorate. The only contented people are the Labour supporters. I am not an advocate of the claims'of either of the Coalition candidates; to be frank I think it is time we gave some of our younger and more vigorous men a chance to serve the public. My. purpose is to ask if there are not a sufficient number of publicspirited citizens in the electorate who will take hold of the situation, call a conference, see if the present unsatisfactory position cannot be remedied. -Only a few days r.emain in which to take action. -Will the call fall,pn deaf ears,?—l am, etc;', 1- : ■ PROMPT ACTION.'
