NOT WITHOUT HUMOUR
COALITION'S REQUEST
A criticism of the past performances of the United and Reform Parties was made by Mr. T. Briudle^ the Labour candidate for Wellington Suburbs, at Vogeltowu last night. There wa3 a good attendance of the public. He said that the present position with its tragic unemployment and miserable relief pay was not without its' humorous side, for Mr. Forbes and Mr. Coates, whose policies had been to a large extent responsible for spreading destitution and want throughout the country; had now formed a Coalition, and were asking the people for a free hand in order to clean up a muddle of their own making. He was sure that the people had more good sense than to prolong the rule of a Government that had shown utter incompetence. As against the hopeless policy of the Coalition the Labour .Party offered the electors one of progress and construction. Tho development of tho primary and secondary industries along scientific lines was Labour's alternative to a policy of drift and despair. The candidate was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
