CRICKET
TEAM FOR THE COUNTRY
THE COACH'S SERVICES
A request for a Wellington team to visit Hawkes Bay and Poverty Bay districts during the Christmas and New Year holidays -was recently received by the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association, but although the committee is anxious to meet the country associations it is faced with the difficulties of expense and of the players obtaining leave. The matter was discussed at last night's meeting of the committee. It was stated that there was little prospect of a team being sent to Poverty Bay, but it was decided to endeavour to send an attractive eleven to Hawkes Bay later in the season, when the financial result of the Plunket Shield matches is known. Mr. J. Hanna said that the committee should remember what Hawkes Bay had been through, and do what it could to help that association. Mr W. J. R. Chvistopherscn asked what replies had been received from the colleges with regard to the coach's services. Mr. R. F. Steele replied that Rongotai College had asked to have the coach on one night per week, but none of the other colleges had asked" for him. The chairman reported that arrangements had been made for the coach to visit the city primary schools. COLTS FOR COACHING.
