Wanii and mild wenlher made conditions very pleasant for the opening of tLi c season's inler-club championship matches at Miramar tennis grounds on Saturday, and the competitions began very fiiiiT-efisfnlly. There were no outstanding contests in the men's senior events, all prominent players winning easily, and the • l-Jroujjliiini Hill A, Nowlown, and Thorndon niHH having no ililliculty in defeating thciv opponents in the lirst round of the ! shield matches, fv. R. C. Wilson showed line form in the Thorndon-Uuivoisity cneouuter, and lost only nine games in the six sols he played.
