A RAILWAY PROMISE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

GISBOBNE, This Day.

. Mr. D. W. Coleman,. Labour candidate for Gisborne, opened his campaign last night. He declared that if Labour were returned it would immediately restart the Napier-Gisborne railway. Money would be far better expended on it than in the manner it was at present being spent on relief works. He advocated organising the ■ industrial resources, also the establishment of a State Bank and reduction of interest.

A vote of thanks was carried.
