The next meeting to engage the attention ol' sportsmen in the southern end of tho-North Island is the Levin Huoing Club's Annual Meeting on Saturday. The acceptances are first-clap throughout, and there should be keen racing. Riccarton 'form gives practically no line whatever for' Levin. T^ie only three horses who compptcd in, the Soutli who are duo to run again on Saturday are Gay Court, .Retract, and 'Solitaire 11. Gay Court's Southern performances were fair, but he, was much lacking in finishing ability. Retract wasssqueezed out at tho start of his raccj and should do better it saddled, up*at <tbe wejjk-end.
