CRICKET COMPETITION

NELSON, 16th November
The Athletic senior cricket team's first innings score of 3*17 proved too large for Wakatu, whoso innings on Saturday realised 254 runs. The chief run-getters were E. Langbein 76, D. Glover 51, and A. M'llwraith 32. Athletic won by 93 runs on. the first innings. Last week Old Boys scored 290 runs for two wickets against College. J. Newman, who last year played for Midland (Wellington),- got among the Students in the first innings, taking nine wickets for 36 runs, and followed this up in the second innings by taking soven wickets for 9 runs. The aggregate for the College innings was 119 runs. In the afternoon Newman took 16 wickets for 45 runs.
The annual A. and P. Show will be held on Friday and Saturday. The entries exceed last year's total by over a hundred.
