Mrs. Cavayo joined the club in 1927, and, although away in 1829, won tho New Zealand ladles' championship and her club championship the following year. This year's success is her second successive one. Mrs. Cavaye scored the highest number of points among her own club mates in this year's inter-club matches, and won the Westbury Eoso Bowl, donated by Mrs. Westbury. Mrs. Cavayo is a member of the committee, and is 'this year's vlce-captaln. As very aptly expressed by a .raomber of a club, slio is "an unassuming winner, a good loser, and a thorough sport. Keen, but not covetous. A very popular lady—always merry and bright." suited in a win by one point for tho former's team. Two possibles were registered. Henry was the winner of the September competition, with M. Marshall second. Posflible honours during the month were scored by H. Nickless (twice), J. Bradley, G. Earl, md J. Henry. G. Earl was the winner of the consolation trophy (for those who won no trophies In the monthly competitions during the year), and M. liemmer was second. KARORI CLUB. A very enjoyable social evening was held on the Hallway Kange last Wednesday evening. The occasion was utilised to present the trophies to tho successful competitors, and to flre a friendly match with the visitors. Mr. W. J. H. Haase, president of tho Karori Club, welcomed the visitors, all of whom had in nome way rendered assistance to tho club, for which he tendered the heartiest thanks. Among tho visitors were Mr. E. J. Wltcombe (president, N.Z.M.R.A.) and Mrs. Witcombe, Mr. !■. P. Wrigley (hon. secretary, W.M.U.A.), Mr H. V. Croxton (president, Public Service Club) and Mrs. Croxton, Mr. W. A. Nicholson (captain. Public Service Club) and Mrs. Nicholson, Mr. W. M'Bain (selector and handieapper, Harbour Board Club), Mr. J. Staples (delegate to W.M.It.A.) and Mrs. Staples, Mr. D Robertson (Harbour Board Club) and Mrs. Robertson. Mr. A. V. G. Wilson ("Aperture"). The friendly shoot was arranged in the form of a visitors' handicap competition, an A and a B Grade club handicap competition, and a match between the visitors and the club. In the visitors' competition, Mr. I). Kobcrtson scored the possible (TO) and Messrs. H. V. Croxton and W. A. Nicholson 69 each. The result of tho shoot was a tie between H. V. Croxton and A. V. G. Wilson, with 69 each. In the shoot-oft these- two tied again, when they decided to cut cards. Mr. Croxton drew * "King" and Mr. Wilson a "Jack," the prize going to the former. In the club B Grade competition I. Drake scored the possible (70) and R. Drako 68. Tho prize went to tbo In the club A Grade competition, J. I. King and R. Porter each scored the possible. In the shoot-off Porter was successful. The result of the match shoot was a win for Karori, the detailed scores being:—Karori: K. Porter 70, J. Brake 70, J. I- Kins 70, W. J H Haase 69, H. Hands 68, R. Drake 68, V. Barnes 68; total, 483. Visitors: D. Robertson 70, H. V. Croxton 69, W. A. Nicholson 69, W M'Bain (16, J. Staples 66, A. V. G. Wilson 66 li. P. Wrigley 65; total, 471. After an enjoyable supper Mr. Haase presented the tronbies, and voiced his appreciation of his club fellows, all having handed back their prize Mr. J. I. King, club champion, was presented ■with the championship shield, aiid Mr. D. C. Morzan, the B Grade champion, received a miniature cup. I-. A. Caldwell was runner-up, and R. Porter third in the A Grade. V. Barnes and Mrs. .T. Staplos were runner-up and third respectively in the B Grade. Trophies won during the evening were prc*ented to H. V. Croxton, K. Porter, and K. rMr.E. J. Wttcombo, in response to a request to speak, remarked that tho ladies had done much, for the sport, especially from the social side. He wished tho club overy success m <h Mr Uil. re p. Wrigley said tho U.S.A. results were expected. Tho official Wellington team score had resulted In an additional point to •he score. He eulogised the Hutt Clubs phenomenal Osmond Shield score. Mr. H. V. Croxton remarked that it was rery gratifying to see so many club members present. Ho spoke appreciatively of the spirit of sacrifice which had actuated the prize-win-ners. He had been diffident about coming along as a visitor, as ho had been so long associated with the Karori Club and its memJiers. He was in hopes that his club (Public Service) would be able to hold an annual wind-up to which representatives from all clubs could he invited. Ho congratulated Mr. King upon winning tho championship. Mr. W. M'Bain, J. Staples, nnd "Aperture" expressed similar sentiments, and wished the club every success. Mr. J. I. King, urged by all present to say a. few words, appreciated the kindly interest shown, and remarked that the sport reauired skill and constant practice. Cheers for the visitors were heartily reciprocated. PETONE CENTRAL CLUB. As the season draws to a close outdoor aports, such as shooting, tennis, bowls, cricket, and so forth, are attracting the attention of members. In spite of tho unfavourable times, the club ha 3 been fairly successful. The club champion shield and miniature shield were won by J. Devlne. This competitor also won tho M'Ghle Cup and miniature. The Kose Bowl was won by J. Braid, and the Tlsdall Cup by H. Woodhcad. The trophy for the mont possibles (10) was won by J. Dcvlnc. The winners of the handicap aggregates were H. May (B Grade) nnd S. Jones (C Grade). The runner-up to tho champion (J. Devlne) wan H. Marsden, who was only ono point D«hlnd. In the six club scries shoots the winners were as follows :—B Gnulo—A. 33. Ffrost, J. A very pleasant social evening and tho annual presentation or prizes was held m the Harbour Board range lust Thursday evening. There was a large attendance. Cards and dancing combined to make tho evening very attractive. Among the visitors, who were welcomed by Mr. C. Prince, on behalf of Miss Foy, captain, were: Mr. E. D. Alexander (president) and Mrs. Alexander; Mr. S. l.uy (vicepresident) and Mrs. Guy; Mr. D. Robertson (vice-president) and Mrs. Robertson; Mr. J. staples (vice-president) and Mrs Maples: Mr. It. G. Tiller (vice-president) and Mrs. llllcr, Mr. P. W. Congrevo (president, N./S.M.K.A.J and Airs. Congrevo: Mrs. O'Neill, Mr. V. Gnu ("Evening Post"), Mr. It. H. Nlcholl (Harbour Board), and Mr. A. V. G. Wilson ("Aperture ). Mr E. D, Alexander, who presented tho trophies, romarked that- ho had onjoyed that honour for years. He was glad to find what great progress was being mado by tho young shots. He congratulated Miss Ward In particular. Miss Ward shows wonderful promlso in nor aptitude with tho rifle. The evening was brought to a closo with cheers and "Auld Lang Sync."
