BAND CONTEST
NEW POST OFFICE
The controversy over the date of the New Zealand championship regatta was settled last evening, when, at a special meeting called to consider the position, the New Zealand Rowing Council, by twelve votes to four, gave permission for the regatta to bo held at Hamilton, on either 291h or 30th January.
At the annual meeting of delegates last mouth, the regatta was allocated to the Auckland association, to be held at Hamilton, but the proposed date, 29th January, was not agreed to. The rules provide that the regatta shall not be held, earlier than 31st January. Since the annual meeting, all local associations in New Zealand were communicated with, and only two —Wellington and Wanga-nui—opposed the alteration in the date. The big majority of delegates were in favour of the dato being altered, and, consequently, authority was given for the regatta to be held on either 29th or 30th January, 1932.
