COALITION BANNER

FIVE OFFICIAL SELECTIONS

The selection of five more candidates to contest seats under the Coalition banner was announced last evening by the Prime Minister, tho Eight Hon. G. W. Forbes, and the Right Hon. J. G. Coates, bringing the total official selections up to 70. They are as follows: — Napier—J. S. Butler. Nelson—H. E. Everett. Stratford —W. J. Poison. Wellington East —T. Forsyth. "Westland—J. W. Greenslade.

Mr. Poison is the only sitting member amongst the five. He was elected as an Independent, but a fortnight ago declared his support of tho Coalition Government in putting through urgent measures made necessary by the economic crisis.
