"WAITING TO RETURN"
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l was most interested in an article in your paper on immigrants who wish to return to Great Britain. I know one Scotsman personally who has been in NewZealand seven years. He put his- all into a section here, thinking he would get his people out, and lost it through unemployment. His mother is in failing health, and very much wishes to see her boy again. He has tried vainly for two years to work his passage, and has haunted the ships to try to hear of some chance to obtain employment on a boat so as to get home to his_ "am folk." His only ■work; at present is No. 5 scheme. Would it not be better to assist these people Home, and thereby leave a gap for one o£ the remaining "would-be" ■workers? I would be grateful, on the Scotsman's behalf, if anyone could suggest some way in which, he could return to "the anld house"-and gladden his longing mother's heart.—l am, etc., SYMPATHY WITH THE HOM* • LONGING.
