' ; . PHOTOGBAPH OF A BKIGHT METEOB. This is one of the finest photographs of a meteor ever secured, and was taken at Sidmouth on 16th November,'l922. The camera used was pointed towards the Celestial Pole and the plate was exposed for two hours fourteen minutes. During this time the rotation of the Earth caused the stars to leave curved trails, with their centres at the Pole. The" short bright'trail just above this central point is that of Polaris. It will be noted that the meteor was subject to marked fluctuations of brightness at different portions of its path. It is believed to have originated from a radiant in Taurus.
