EASY FOR INFLATION

TOUT LE MOND PLEASES The Awapuni-trained Inflation, as in the juvenile handicap,on the second day: at Trentham recently,' proved very definitely superior to his opponents in 'the Spring Nursery Handicap! He drew number seven at the barrier, and was out in front ;as soon as the' tapes lifted. Nothing thereafter ever looked like getting riear him. He has now won three. [races in his last five starts, all of them handicaps. H. Gray has been associated ;>vith him in his two most recent successes. .;fiis/price yesterday, as mi^ht be expected, was well under evens. , y {/At the start Pacify and Splutter ap> rpeared to clash, for both were sent back 'to the rear.' Inflation, Volga Boatman, Shock, and Silver Streak were early con.Bpieuous, and Inflation came over, on to ihe course proper well clear of Shock, Silver' Streak, Drum Fire.and Volga Boatmany with Tout le Mond, who had drawir the outside positions coming fast across. 'Inflation went on to win as; he liked by two lengths, and Tout le Mond finished most strongly of the others to beat Silver Streak by half a length for second money. Drum Fire was a close fourth,,then came [ Volga' Boatman, Rulanut, Shock, and Pacify. ' Inflation's performance dimmed the erflovts of his opponents, but the showing of Tout le Mond is worthy of comment. He js a -well-bred bay colt by Limond from the imported English mare Aspic, by Polymelud, and also dam of the unlucky Aspian, recently defunct. He was purchased at the.yearlhiK sales in January by Gay Crest's'owner, Dr. M. G. Louisson, who had to carry, the bid to 800 guineas to obtain him. As he raced well at Trentliatii, also on Monday (he did not start tint the - Welcome Stakes on Saturday), it was "rather surprising that he should be almost the outsider of the field at a price ior. second more than four times that paid by the winner.
