FAR EAST DISPUTE
HOPE OF SETTLEMENT DAWES AT LEAGUE COUNCIL United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received 12th November, 3 p.m.) LONDON, 11th November. Sir John Simon, speaking at Birmingham, announced that the United States had instructed General Dawes to attend the League Council meeting at Paris. Sir John said that there was good ground for hoping that an amicable settlement .of the Manchurian dispute would be attained and the moral authority of the League sustained. Britain's international policy should be inspired by the League ideal.
