WORK ON WATERFRONT

HOSTILITY TO STRIKE

SYDNEY, 30th October. The militant section of the seamen met again to-day to consolidate their position. The shipowners called for crews for six idle vessels, but there was.no response. An attempt was made to bring out the crew of the motor freighter Mundalla when she berthed at Sydney today, but the crew declined and the police drove tho strikers from the vicinity of the wharf. The waterside workers are carrying on and refusing to be drawn into the conflict. Work on the waterfront at Adelaide and Brisbane is proceeding smoothly. Plenty of men are offering at Melbourne for all those ships not already idle.
