LYCEUM CLUB RECEPTION

■ There was a very lurge gathering °f members at tlio Wellington Lyceum CJnb yesterday afternoon, when a reception was given in honour of the Misses Hayncr, who were made most cordially welcome, with many appro-

eiativo remarks about their delightful entertainments, The club was charmingly decorated with many Iceland poppies, white double cherry, and roses and bush foliage, the effect being excellent. Mrs. Oakley was responsible for the excellent arrangement, and members of the flower circle contributed some of the flowers. The guests of honour were received by Mesdamcs Bealcs, Hadfleld, and Oakley' (vicepresidents), and each was presented with a sheaf bouquet of lovely flowers. Mrs. Oakley . introduced the Misses Bayner to the members, and Mrs. Hadfield apologised for the absence of Mrs. J. J. Clark'(president), who was unfortunately too indisposed to be present. Miss Watkins accompanied the Misses Rayner, and was also warmly welcomed. Afternoon tea was served and enjoyed, and a brief but excellent programme was presented. Miss Joan Maunder played a piano solo; Miss Myrtle Choto Being "Golden Dancing Days"; Miss Florence Penney gave "Any Time is Kissing Time" and "Enough"; Miss K. Ferris's numbers included "Nightingale of June" and another charming' song; Miss Maunder gave a musical monologue, "The Little Bottom Drawer." Among those present were Mesdames Sprott, W. A. Evans, K. A. Wright, Natusch, Short, Sterling, Biekerton, Bree, Watts, Richards, Sample, Wing, Hardy, Wilson, Penney, Sterling, Welsh, Coad, Smyth, G. Lyon, Watts, Kay, Hotter, and Misses Marks, ■ Nicholls, and Langdon. ■ ■. • • ■
