EXCELLENT WEATHER
TO LAST A BIT LONGER
There has been comparatively little chango in pressure distribution since yesterday, and barometers aro still high over the greater part of the Dominion. There has, however, been a slight fall in the far south owing to tho passage of minor low- pressure waves to the south of New Zealand. Fine, pleasant, and spring-like weather has been general, tho winds being chiefly of moderato forco and from' some westerly quarter: Strong north-westerlies have prevailed at times in Cook1 and Foyeaux Straits, whilst at Puysegur Point a northerly gale continues to blow. The westerly winds have, favoured an increase iv cloud in situations exposed to that quarter/ and there have been a few isolated showers.
Auckland had a fine and clear day yesterday, with a light south-westerly breeze. A fresh north-westerly prevailed in Wellington, but the weather remained fine as a whole. In Christchurch and Dunedin the day was warm and sunny. Fog was reported off the coast at Christ church this morning.
Moderate to strong westerly to northwesterly winds will later, reach gale force in places south of New Plymouth and Castlcpoint. Fine, warm, and hazy weather generally may be expected for tho present, with scattered showers on tho (West Coast from Taranaki southward. Later on, however, owing, to a depression advancing from tho Tasman Sen, conditions are likely to become less settled, especially in districts with a westerly aspect. '
