There were also a number of adults looking on this morning, but they niostJy held off until this afternoon when parents and friends of tho pupils attended in large numbers to watch the finals of tho events, most of the preliminaries being completed this morning. For this year's sports there is an exceptionally large number of competitors owing to the school's unusually large roll of over 1000. Tho junior and senior classes are particularly strong, and the intermediate class is well up to previous years. There were over '60 entrants for the open mile handicap. Three records went by the board this morning. In the half-mile senior L. Sceats returned a time o£ 2min 14jsec, clipping ljscc off the record established by. G. Clark in 1924. Tho senior long jump record was improved by lft 7in ,by 3. Taylor, who jumped 20ft Sin, as compared with his own lecord jump last year of 18ft Bm. The junior long jump record was also improved, J.
