Bumours current in the lobbies at Parliament House last night that Cabinet had decided to fix 2nd December as tho date for the General Electio* v.ere officially denied to-day. Questioned on tho matter, the Prim« Minister (the Right Hon. G.- W. Forbes) stated that the subject had not yet been considered and consequently no decision had been reached as t» the date on which tho appeal would be made. Beplying to a question as •to the progress made with the adjustments of candidatures, Mr.' Forbes said.the Result of his appeal "to announced candidates had beott most gratifying. The candidates and the .organisations-, had , shown a recognition of the exceptional circumstances, and in the case of th« , men who had been approached by him, willingness had-been shown to stand I aside in the nation's interests. i "I am seeing prospective candidates nil the time," Mr. Forbes added, "and ffey realise as do the party's etecu. tivC., that the pact we ia™^*" honourable one, and they will co-*perat« in having it carried out. . ■ Mr Forbes mentioned ,that adjustments had already been made_ withrespeet to a number of seats, : but it was not intended to.issue a hrt of selected nominees at present.
