There was not a great deal of fasi work at Trenthairi this morning; but several of the horses who are to make the Carterton trip were sent against the watch. The outside of the course proper, trestles. 60' feet out,, and th< plough were available,' each providing fast going. Unless otherwise stated the gallops were on the course proper. Tho Sun (A. Tinsley) was exorcised then put over the pony hurdles, whicl he jumped without hesitation. Ho ii unlikely to go to Carterton, and will b< 2ased up for a couple of months, thcr tried out as a hurdler. White. Squall (W. E: Shand) bea Foghorn (G. F. Dick) by a length am a half over five furlongs, the last half mile in 51 3-ssec. It is not often tha Foghorn is defeated on tho tracks. LADY PAM SPRINTS. Lady Pam (J. Mulyihill) and Foul wind (H. Johnstone) sprinted' half i. mile on the plough, coming homo the final three furlongs in 37 2-sscc. The fdtmer failed twice at the recent Wellington Meeting, but looks well enough after her racing. St. Roger (A. O'Neill) ran the last half-inilo of five furlongs on the plough in 512-sscc, doing his work nicely throughout. Capetown (Dick) finished a length in front of La Parleuse (Shand) at the end of half a mile in 513-sscc. W: Broughton is to ride throe members of W. Hawthorne's team (Capetown, Foghorn, and White Squall) on Saturday. Cape Gold (L. Daly) beat Fairwind by nearly a length over six furlongs on the plough in lmin. 20'4-ssec, the last half-milo in 54 3-ssec. Cape Gold was doing it easily in the straight, and Fairwind made up much lost ground over the final furlong. Eed Sun (C. Scott) ran an easy sis furlongs on tho plough. He will be ridden by J. Barry on Saturday. Spear Lad (Johnstone) beat Movietone (Daly) by a length over five furlongs in lmin 4 2-ssec, the last half-mile in 52sce. Cessation (L. G. Sinclair) drew oni lo lead Duellona (A. Williams) sprinted couplo .of furlongs, down tho straigl on the plough. Ketract' was given cas pace work only. Royal Game (S. Wilson) proved man lengths superior to • Appledore (L: cassio) over six furlongs on the ploug in lmin 18 4-ssec,. the last half-mile_ i 52 2-ssec. Appledoro was never goir well. If he starts at Carterton 1 will bo ridden by I. Tucker. Araios (O'Neill) raced past Mati Chimes (Sinclair) at the start of the half-mile, and finished up three lengtl in front, his timo being 51sec. H. OKAY'S MOUNTS. Flower and Shootist did useful wot separately over rounds. Ephialtes re a mile at a good three-quarter pac sprinting homo the final furlong. I Wilson will ride Flower and. Shootis also Koyal Game and Portray, at Ca teuton. Ephialtes will bo ridden by 1 Gray, whoso other mounts inclu< Kozan, Projection, Johnecn, linate girl, and Miladi. Azure (Daly) and Zephyrus (J. J Martin) were associated over six fu 1 longs, the latter doing the better ovi the closing stages. Their time wi lmin 17 4-ssee, and 52 l-ssec fort! last half-mile. Zephyrus is to start' i the highweight on Saturday,- , and 1 will be ridden by A. Jenkins. Acorn (Lacassie) ran half a mi alone on the plough in 51 3-ssec. Volj Boatman (H. Gray) took 37 3-ssec f< three furlongs. ' Kozan (M. Eeardon) sprinted thr< furlongs comfortably on the plough i 37 4-ssec. Croupier did easy pa< work only. Members of T. Autopay, topweight for the CJ.C. Stewards' Handicap, was back on the track this morning after having been physicked, but was not asked to work fast. Ho will be ridden at Biccartpn by A. E. Ellis. T. R. George, trainer of Croupier and Kozan, states that both horses will contest the Stewards'. L. J. Ellis will be on Croupier, but no rider has yet been arranged for Kozan.
