BANKRUPTCY
A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt, estate of Clifford Garficld Brskme, land acent, was to have been held yesterday at the office of the OlHciul Assignee, but lapsed for want of a quorum. The statement of accounts showed that the amount owing to unsecured creditors was £241 7s sd. There were no assets. The principal creditors were R. O. JVI i^eoa (Hastings), £162; D.C. Motors, garage proprietors, Lower TT,,tt, £24 17s hd; Whippet Company (Wellmcton). ild; jr'Laren and Nisbet, agents for Brandon (Lower Hutt), £21 13s 4d. ■ In his sworn statement, the bankrupt said that he commenced business as a land agent in Lower Hutt in August, 1928, and although handicapped by ill health, due to war disability, his business paid_it3 way. During the three months previous to relinquishing business his health broke down, and he had to receive hospital treatment. In January, 1031, he came to the conclusion that, owing to the financial depression, he could not carry on. He was »}so compelled by circumstances to hand over to the second mortgagee his house and section, in which he had a fairly congiderable equity. The property was eventually sold by the first mortgagee. He had been compelled to file his petition. Since relinquishing business ha had been practically totally incapacitated through illness. He was still receiving medical attention, and would require such attention for an indefinite period. He regretted that he was not able to make any oSer to hie creditors.' . The meeting was adjourned sine die. ■
