WELLINGTON MEETING CONCLUDES
FAVOURITES AGAIN HAVE BAD TIME
CROUPIER'S RECORD IN HARCOURT CUP
There was much improved weather for the concluding day of ihe Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting yesterday. Conditions. generally were ideal for racing, and the attendance was the best the club has had for many meetings. Investments on the machine, however, showed no tendency towards betterment, for the day's turnover of £37,3-14 10s represented a drop of £18,189 10s on last Labour Day's figures. For the meeting the decline in investments amounted to £25,172 10s, or roughly 30 per cent. The racing was interesting throughout. Croupier established his right to fame by winning the Harcour.t Cup very decisively. Silvermine and Tobaecoland were successful in the two principal handicaps, favourites again had a rather lean time, the only first selection to score being Inflation.
