]n the final of the men's doubles in the third grade, Reiche and Wearue beat Maeklev and Mitchell.
ST. ANTHONY'S WINS
A guud day's tennis was enjoyed by S(. Anthony's; Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday, when the St. Joseph's Club, of Levin, paid a visit to the local club at its Seatomi courts. St. Anthony's tendered the St. Joseph'» Club team a luncheon at the Seatoun Tea Kiosk, the table being decorated by members or St. Anthony's, the club's colours, green and red, being very conspicuous. Mr, J. A. Duffy, the St. Anthony's Club president, welcomed the St. Joseph's team, and wished them an enjoyable day's tennis. The Rev. Father Breen responded on behalf of the St. Joseph's team. During the afternoon, also, about 59 players and friends were entertained at afternoon tea. During this function the Rev. Father Uhlenberg apologised for the absence of Monsignor Connolly, and thanked the St. Anthony's Committee for their hard work which had made this function such a success. The matches played were keenly contested, and resulted in a win for St. Anthony* by 12 matches to 11. ■ An interesting game was played between Father Breen and Miss D. Dunn, of St. Joseph's, and L. Holmes and Miss M. Duffy, of St. Anthony's, the latter, winning after a keen light. Another good game was between Fattier Uhlenberg and Miss L. Monahau, of St. Anthony's, and T. Sullivan and Miss M, Smith, of St. Joseph's, the former winning. The other games resulted as' follows (St. Anthony* players being mentioned first): — Mixed Doubles: Mansfield and Mist Alexander beat Dooley and Miss Benge, 6-4; Dohcrty and Miss Mansfield lost to J. Butler and Miss M'Phee, 6-4; Chaape and Miss M'Donnel! lost to J. Gimlett and .Mrs. Ryder, G-3; Jones and Miss M'Grath. beat Heap and Miss Lipperty, 6-5. Men* Doubles: Mansfield and Doherty lost to Father Breen and Dooley, 6-5; Father Uhlenberg and Holmes lost to Butler and Gimlett, 6-4; Jones and Chaape beat Sullivan and Heap, b'-4. Ladies' Doubles: Misses Duffy and Mansfield beat Misses Dunne and Benge, 6-1; Misses Alexander and M'Dounell beat Mrs. Ryder and Miss M'Phee. fi-2: Misses M'Grath and Monahau lost to MisseSmith and Lafferty, 0-3.
