WAIHI MINE REPORT

The. superintendent, : Waihi. Goldmining Company, Ltd., reported to London, 17th September:—The principal work carried out -underground. The report states, among other things—Edward Lode, Trout Block. Breaking completed broken ore drawn off from north end of block. No. 10 level: State Reef-in Grand Junction east drive was continued to SO. feet. From 39 lo 60 feet width/of lode varied from 2% to 5 feet and is high grade; from 60 to 80 feet the assay value fell to 18s per ton, the width of quartz being about 3 feet. Martha Lode in Junction No. 1 Shaft N.W. crosscut, assay value was low and driving was stopped. At 103 feet in crosscut thero is another section of the Martha lode and a'- drive westward on its, course waa commenced and advanced to 61ft. For the first' 12' feet the assay value is 10s fid per ton,' the next 10 feet averages 27s Qdi per! ton. arid the'next .33 feet 43s 3d per ton. The quartz is about 4 feet wide. Driving is being continued. Junction No. j level—Dominion Lode. S.W. drive was continued to 72ft, average assay value from 38 to SO feet, 28s 6d per ton, and from 56 to 72 feet 33s Gd per ton; lode varied from 3 to 5 feet wide. The northoast drive on the vein of ore close to Junction.No. 1 shaft was continued to 67 feet. The average assay value from 24----to 45 feet is' 10s- 7d per ton, from 45 to-50 feet 55s 6d per ton,: but from this point to the face it was of little or no value.
