SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS. An Intense depression moved rapidly on to tho Dominion last night, a centre of which has since apparently crossed Otago. Yesterday was a fair to fine day everywhere, but in the night conditions became unsettled with rain In the western districts from Taranakl southwards and in tho far south. With the approach of the disturbance, northerly winds freshened, and since last evening they have blown with gale force at places in and south of Cook Strait.
