LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION

A meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand League of Nations Union was held on Wednesday last, the KevJ Dr. Gibb presiding. > , Mr. Trotter, of Hillgrove, in a letter forwarded by the secretary of the Otago branch, drew attention to the remark made by the New Zealand High Commissioner (Sir Thomas Wilford) at the League Assembly that too much money was being spent by the League of Nations. Mr. Wilkinson considered that the attention of the Government should be directed to the matter referred to, and it should be asked if the High Commissioner's expression of opinion was that of the New Zealand Government.

A letter from the Auckland branch asked the executive to interview the Government regarding' New Zealand representatioa at the International Labour Office annual conference and on various other matters relating to labour conventions. The chairman moved that the executive go on deputation to the Prime Minister urging the appointment of a strong delegation to the Peace Conference in Geneva. At the same time tho mattei's remitted from Auckland should be placed before Mr. Forbes. . . Mr. William Page proposed, and Mr. F. NY Wilkinson seconded, the following resolution, which was unanimously adopted:—"That inasmuch as the great success of the Town Hall meeting of the sth October was almost entirely due to our president, this meeting heartily congratulates and thanks him."

It was resolved that a letter of appreciation be written to the Optimists' Club thanking it for the_ great assistance it had rendered at the disarmament meeting on (rtli October. It was also decided that Miss Stiles should receive a similar letter of thanks for the Rood work she had done in connection with the peace petition at the door of the Town Hall. It was reported that over 2000 signatures hndtbecn obtained. -
