LAWN TENNIS

MURITAI CLUB

At the Muritai Tennis' Club, Eastbourne^ the season was opened by Mr. H. W. Shortt, president of the club for many years. Mr. S. F. Fisher, Mayor of Eastbourne, congratulated the club on its progress and appearance of its grounds and courts, and presented trophies won by members' last season. Over one hundred members and friends attended, the largest number for several years, Mr. W. Nash, M.P., Mrs. Nash, Mrs. H. W. Shortt, and Mrs. S. F. Fisher being amongst those present. An exhibition singles match was played by A. L. France and'H. D. Reid, and afternoon tea was served by the ladies' committee. The club's four courts have recently been top-dressed, and are in excellent condition.
