NATIONAL CAMPAIGN
PARTY ARRANGEMENTS
TO AVOID VOTE-SPLITTING
(British Official Wireless.) (Received 13th October, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, 12th October. Election activity is proceeding at high pressure throughout the country. As nomination clay approaches, there are increasing indications of a determination to avoid three-cornered contests as far as possible. In a number of London constituencies arrangements have already been made whereby Labour opposition will be met by only one candidate, pledged to support the National Government on the basis of the Prime Minister's manifesto. Elsewhere efforts to effect similar arrangements between Liberals and Conservatives are proceeding.
