PRINCESSES IN TROUSERS

Two Princesses, dressed in neat blue trousers, blazers, and berets, competed against each other in a yacht race at Povtaferry Begatta, on Strangford Lough (states the "Daily Mail"). They were the Infantas Beatrix and I Cristina, daughters of King Alfonso, who are now staying with their fiances, Don Alvaro and Don Alonzo of Orleans-Bourbon, at Mount Stewart, as tho guests of the Marquess and Marchioness of Londonderry. The Princesses' race was keenly, watched by the spectators on the shores of the lough. Princess Bcatriz and her fiance, Don Alvaro, joined Lord Londonderry in the yacht Uladh, and Princess Christina, Don Alonzo, and Lady Margaret and Lady Helen Stewart maimed Gweebara. The royal yachtswomen were competing against two famous Irish yachtsmen, Lord Justice Andrews and Vipcount Bangorj ' ■•' . ■ /.-.; CHEERING CROWDS. The Princesses ". and' their ' fiances quickly showed their skill in handling the yachts. After two laps round the buoyed course the four competitors came scurrying for the finishing post. Lord Justice/Andrews was home first, followed by Lord Bangor. Then there was a great shout from the shores when it was seen that Princess Cristina and Don Alonzo inGweebara were well ahead, of Uladh. After they passed the finishing post the Princess and her Irish friends quickly furled a sheot and brought the yacht round in a sweeping circle. Princess* Beatriz in the other yacht was seen standing, on tho deck tugging at a rope. The Ulster people, who are delighted by the romantic visit of Spain's Infantas, crowded round the royal party when they came ashore, and the Prin-cesses—pink-checked with tho keen air—smiled to the cheering crowds before they drove away to Mount Stewart.
