ADVICE TO A WOMAN

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. "Don't get excited and interfere with the police. Sometimes the most innocent little act might cause trouble, and even death." So said the Magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, this morning to Mrs. Alice Cassio, whom he convicted on a charge of obstructing a detective during the arrest yesterday of a Communist named James Henry Edwards. Mrs. Cassic, who denied that she was a Communist, wa.s also charged with committing; wilful mischief by damaging a detective's coat, but on this charge the Magistrate said there was a doubt, and he dismissed it. On the obstruction chargo he ordered her to come up for sentence if called within six months. Edwards, who was charged with encouraging lawlessness by a speech on Sunday, was remanded till to-morrow on r£so bail, to enable counsel to prepare n, defence, Edwards giving an undertaking to refrain froni agitation mean while.
