ALLEGED THEFT

MAETON, 10th October

A young man named Hector Clarence Linton, post office employee at Ohingaiti, appeared at the Maugaweka Police Court yesterday to answer two separate charges of stealing money from postal packets. Detective James Murray, of Wanganui, stated that he interviewed the accused concerning missing letters. The accused confessed that he had stolen two letters containing money which had passed through the office. The accused, who reserved lii 3 defence, was remanded to appear at the Supremo Court, Wellington. Bail of £100 and ono surety of £100 wag allowed, the accused being required to report daily to the police at Mangaweka.
