GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. HOPE GIBBONS

Much interest was taken in the golden, wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Hope Gibbons, of "Sedgebrook," Wanganui, the celebration taking place on Monday. A dinner party was given at "■SedgebroqkV: at which there were fifty-eight guests, including the daughter and four sons of Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons and twenty-three grandchildren, the youngest of whom was but three years old. Mrs. Gibbons was a Miss Barnes, and came out to New Zealand from-London with her parents. Her married life began at Patea, where Mr. Gibbons had a business of sawmilling and lightering. He started in public, life.early, and has filled many useful positions in a fine and capable manner. During the war he took a prominent part in. helping with the war funds and equipment, and received the M.B.E. as a recognition of his good services. He has given Wanganui more than one public park, and a line residence at Gbnvillo for a St. Helens Hospital. The Beautifying Society and Plunket people also have .to tlmnk Mr. Gibbons for generous aid. Ho and Mis.
