LOWER HUTT COURT
- Bylaw cases: were heard on Tuesday in the Lower Hutt Court before Messrs. M. J. Hpdgins ancl W. N. Dempsey, J.P.'s. In regard to the cases against motorists for speeding, Mr. Hodgins remarked that there was far too much speeding in Lower Hutt, especially in the main streets. Failure \o produce their drivers' licences cost A. C. Ritchie and J. Doull each 10s, L. Dwycr 20s, and E. J. Brace was ordered to pay the costs only. For driving an unregistered car, William M'Gowaiiwas fined 20s, and for the offence o£ using wrong, number-plates was lined 20.«. Eliza Moore, for turning a car in High street, fined 10s; ' Parking his car in tho middle of tho road cost J. D. Patton 10s. Florence Watson was proved to have attempted to overtake traffic on the bridge, and was _fmed 10s. Speeding in- various parts of the borough, including the bridge, where the. speed limit is 15 miles per hour, cost X.. J. Brace, IT. Denton. Kllen Anderson, Alice D. M'Kfiy, and C. Spillacy each 10s, and E. JJeinbvidge. W. G. Chambers, D. G. Anp.as, R. J. M'Garvie, oul —. M'Guire each "JUs. 'J'ho last-named defendant was also ordered to pay the costs only Eor a second offence. Allowing stock to wander on the public road cost S. Twomey and C Murphy each 10s. For a similar offence H. C. Ell was fined 5s on each of four charges. Mati Mazuraniefc was remandod until Ist September on a charge of stealing a bicycle valued at £5.
