Mr. J. D. Lundle, chief officer of tho Karepo, Is proceeding to Sydney for holidays, and his place is being taken by Mr. C. 11. M. Long. Mr. A. H. S. Gell has joined the Tamahlne as third officer. Mr. C. T. Robb Is vow second officer of the Walpiata. Mr. D. C, N. Champion has relieved Mr. H. .t. M. Kemp, third officer of the Karepo, for holidays. Captain H. S. Hilton, who has been marine superintendent at Auckland for the Canadian National Steamships for three and a-half years, has been appointed marine superintendent for Australia and New Zealand, with headquarters at Sydney. Captain Hilton has been for .12 years in tho Canadian Government Service, and during the early part of that period he was in command of steamers trading between Canada and New Zealand. Before being appointed to the position at Auckland he was assistant marine superintendent at Vancouver for four years. He will leave Auckland for Sydney by the Monowai on Friday to take over his new appointment. MONOWAI'S TRANSHIPMENTS. Repairs to the steamer City of Kimberley, which has been iv port at Aucklaud since 2nd .Tune, are expected to bo commenced toward tho end of this week. The vessel lost her propeller in the Pacific, and was towed to Auckland by the New Zealand Shipping Company's motor-ship Opawa. Besides losing her propeller the City of Kimberley received damage to her tail shaft, crank shaft, and stern tube, and replacements had to be dispatched from England. THE CITY OF CHRISTIANIA. Tho City of Christiania arrived at Lyttelton this morning. Her Dunedin cargo was transhipped w-hen the vessel was at Wellington, aud sho will sail from Lyttelton to-morrow afternoon for Sydney.
