LOST IN TYPHOON
STEAMER'S SURVIVORS
HELD FOR RANSOM

SHANGHAI, 20th August. After hope had been abandoned of there being any- survivors of the IndoChina steamer Kwongsang,. which foundered in a typhoon on lOth August, H.M.B. Sepoy discovered wreckage at iuyan Island, sixty miles north of Foochow. After -inquiring of fisher folk and learning that bodies had bee« washed ashore and buried, and' also learning that three or four gurvivbm had been captured by Chinese and it is believed held for ransom, landing parties are now searching.the pirates' lair to rescue the captives.
