LODGE MEETINGS
The fortnightly meeting of Petone Pioneer' Branch of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows was held last week, Bro'. F. Apperley, N.G., presiding, and Bro.' J. M'Cormick, P.N.G., supervising. A welcome -was extended to the District Master, Bro. Ryde, and to. Bro. Norton, District Secretary, .who visited the branch for the purpose of installing officers. The Grand Master, Bro. W. Bain, in company with Grand Lodge officers, also paid an official visit. The Grand Master presented the balance-sheet' of the central body .for the past year, the Grand Secertary, Bro. Bradstock, being complimented on his work for the year. Resuming the chair .the Noble Grand put through the business of the branch, a vote of thanks being passed to the Grand Lodge and District Council officers for their attendance. The usual meeting of Loyal William Bain Branch, G.U.0.0.F., was held last week, Bro: F. Harnor, > N.G., presiding, and Bro. J. Murphy; P.N.G., supervising. There was a. £ood attendance. One new member.was initiated by branch officers. One sick account was passed for payment. A Social was afterwards held, Sisters Murphy and Martin (Star of Newtown) and Bro. Harnor officiating at the piano. There was a good attendance of members from other branches, and , an enjoyable evening was spent. Star of Newtown, G.U.0.0.F., held- its usual meeting last week, Sifter Murphy, N.G., presiding, and Sister Griffiths, P.N.G., supervising. An .official visit was received from the following Grand Lodge officers: Bro. Chorley, Deputy Grand Master; Bro. Bradstock, Grand Secertary; Bro. Ponder, Past Grand Master; Bros. Hooper and Murphy, Grand Trustees; Bros. < Hey,- Morgan, and Barnett, Grand Directors. Bro. Ryde, District Master; Bro. Butler, Deputy Grand Master; Bro. Norton, District Secertary; -Bro. Tritt, District Treasurer;'and Bro.'E. J. Browne, District Trustee, also attended. • Several visitors we're, present 'from' other branches in the district. • All visitors vere accorded1' lodge honours, replies being given by the senior officers of each unit. Loyal-Central Branch, G.U.0.0.F.', held its usual meeting last TKursday, Bro. W. Weldon, N.G., and Bro. Morgan,. P.N.G., .An official visit was received from Bro. Ryde, District Master; Bro. Norton, District Secretary;., and Sister Hooper, District Trustee, the object being to install the newlyelected officers. One new member was initiated by the branch officers. Two sick accounts were'passed for, payment. A vote of thanks.was passed to the district officers for their attendance, to which Bro. Ryde responded. Several visitors were present from other branches in the district. Loyal-Ryde-Branch, G.U.0.0.F., held-a very successful meeting last week, Bi-o. B. Thompson, N.G., presiding and Bro. Norton, P.N.G., supervising. Sister Gray (Star of'Newtown) was welcomed as a visitor. Several accounts were .passed for payment. Cards and 'harmony completed a very pleasant evening. Newtown Alpha Branch, G.U.0.0.F., held a-very .successful benefit dance last week, members and friends of all branches in the district being present. Thei-e was also a good representation of members of the'I.O.O.F.;tN.Z., and the M.U.1.0.0.F. • The Venetians" dispensed the music, and Sister -.Murphy' supplied the 'extras. A pleasant evening was spent by ail present.
