VICAR'S RUSE
' LONDON, 20th July. When the dissentients of the! eongregatioWof St. Michael's, Lumb-in-Bossen-dale, near Burnley, in Lancashire, arrived for evensong to-night, they found that the Vicar-(the Bevy T. Caleb) had forestalled them by holding tho service in the afternoon. ■ Taking the key of the church from the vicarage, the dissentients held their own" service. After twelve months' truce, protests by members of the congregation of St. Michael's against the vicar were resumed on sth, June, and have been continued since with much vehemence. The original dispute wose following the dismissal ■of the choir, and disorderly, scenes occurred at the services for three months until .'a truce was made.
