MISSIONS IN THE EAST
An address on the progress of Christianity in Eastern lands was. delivered last evening in St. Peter's Hall, Ghuznee street, by the Rev.. W. W. Cash, general secretary of the Church Missionary Society, London. Bishop Sprott presided. An outline was given by the Rev. Mr. Cash of the work^being done by the Church Missionary Society in Africa, India, China, Japan, and; other countries. There were, he said, 14 dioceses in India, and the Church Missionary Society was prominent in twelve of them. In China the conditions were made difficult for missions owing to the unsettled government o£ the country, but the missions were doing good work. On the other hand, Japan was wide open to.the Gospel, and great progress was being made.' Speaking generally of Christian progress in the East, Mr. Cash said that to-day;there was a great opportunity for church building. Reference was made to the sinister influence of Bolshevism, which influence, he said, was being counteracted largely by the Christian Church.
