STAY OF PROCEEDINGS
];, .It was mentioned in- the Supreme Court this morning that the Crown proposed entering a stay of proceedings in the, case of; Arthur Wallace Eichardson, cashier, who'was charged with.the theft, as a servant, from the City, Batos Office of £96 Is 2d, the property of the Wellington City. Corporation. Richardson, who had pleaded uot guilty, appeared in tho Supreme Court for trial last Friday. The jury, after having been out four hours, 'failed to agree, and on the application of the Assistant Crown Prosecutor a new trial was granted. The retrial was to have taken place this week, but it is now not intended by the Crown to proceed. Mr. W. E. Leicester appeared for Richardspn.
