LAST OF QUIN ABBEYS
Tarcha, •who won two races 6vcr seven lurlongs at Gisborne last week, is one of the last offspring of Quin Abbey, who died in 1926. Tarcha was foaled in 1927, being thus now four jcars old, and he is from ■I he Gluten mare Semolina, a half-sister to Tinopai (dam of Tinokoa), and also to Tinohoro, a good -winner in the north a few years ago with successes in such notable races as the Auckland Racing Club Handicap, Takapuna Racing Club Handicap, and Hamilton Cup. Tarcha and Tinohoro arc vciy closely related, for both are by Quin Abbey. Tarcha was bie<l arid is oivncd by the Cambridge sporUman, Air. R. Hannon, who also raced Tinohdro. He was started on several occasions as a two-year-old round about Auckland, and also early last season, but until the Gibboriic trip he1 had failed to earn even place-moiiey. Like many of his sire's stock he has required time, but now that he has come good he ehould turn out a more than payable proposition.
