In. view of t!ie many erroneous and mischievous statements that are being continually made by members""of the community, which are detrimental to the banks, and the need that exists for people to be correctly informed as to certain banking operations, the recent Wellington conference of the New Zealand Bank Officers' Guild recommended that the Associated Banks publish from time to time statements (as was done recently in connection with the cost of the note issue) "to enable members of the staffs discreetly to counteract' the incorrect views concerning the banks which are so widely held aud expressed."
