Strong west to south-west winds to gales prevailed almost generally, with.cold, squally weather. Intermittent rain lias fallen in most districts,; but little. or noue has been recorded on tho east coast between Napier and Oamaru. Some heavy falls have occurred In western districts with hail at places, and there has been a considerable fall of snow at high level stations. The ' greater Portion of the disturbance has passed eastwards, but a further sharp wave has been passing in tho south since last night, and consequently winds again have veered temporarily to north-west about Cook Strait and on parts of .tho cast coast.
