RECORD HARD TO BEAT
Southland steeplechasers have placed themselves well on the map in other parts of the Dominion this winter, and. their record of performances is something that the Far South may well enthuse over. At the Dunedin Winter Meeting Snowfall woi the Otago Steeplechase, with another Southlander in Squatter, runner-up; West Dome and Tunamoe were winner and runner-up respectively in the Hack Steeplechase on the second day; and Tunamoe won the principal cross-country event on toe final day. Paris won at Etlerslie, and then scored in the Wellington Steeplechase; and West Dome wou the two hack steeplechases at the Wellington Meeting. Then last Saturday the South Canterbury Steeplechase resulted in Tunamoe's taklug the honours, with Snowfall in second place. -Calham, who won the Pareora Steeplechase and finished third.: in the Teschemaker Memorial Hunt Cup Steeplechase at the same meeting, is also owned and trained in Southland.
