STAKES,AND INVESTMENTS

A return tabled at the Now Zealand Trotting Conference to-day showed that during the year 58 meetings were held, covering 82 days. There were 651 races run in respect of which the stakes totalled £153,240, as against £170,454 for the previous season. The totalise ator investments amounted to £1,558,----200 10s. In addition,-th o stakes given for trotting events on tho programmes of racing clubs amounted to £11,004 and the totalisator investments for those events were £113,461 10s. That made the total stakes for trotting in New Zealand £16-1,304 and the aggregate totalisator investments- £1,671,----662 10s.
