"OFFICIAL RECOGNITION"
-——♦ A keen discussion took place at last evening's meeting of. tho Wellington School Committees and Education Federation with regard to the statement by the chairman of the Education Board (Mr. T. JPorsyth) on the question of tho. official recognition of the association. A resolution was passed to the effect that the association desired to bring under the notice of the board the fact that the statement of the chairman was having a detrimental effect : on the progress of the organisation in a way not desired by the chairman of the board or>by the board itself, and that the association would bo grateful for a statemont to reverse that impression. ; .'"'■.■ Tho Hon. H, Atmore (Minister of Education) wrote stating that although tho Education Act did not provide for \ recognition of tho association, ho was i pleased at its formation and the work ' it did in the cause of education, and • was glad to receive tho help of educa- , tional bodies. This letter, it was con- i sidered by the meeting, was to the effect that the association was officially recognised by the Minister of Education.
