Tho deputation asked that the left-hand side of the road Lo put- in order, if only to prevent accidents. . H0... understood ■ that the Tramways Department would rot be undertaking any track alterations, there for" three years at least, as the "rails M'eic in good older, but if the road was simply levelled off, metalled, and rolled, it would bo safe for traffic.

Mr. Goldsmith urged on the eoraniittce tho .necessity of acquiring' Toll's corner," at the junction"of-.Ohiro .road and.Cleveland street, so that.the'.strect could be widened and inadc'sa-fe for the ever-increasing traffic from Ohiro and Happy Valley roads. A shop would have, "to be'bought.

• Tho chairman (Councillor T. Forsyfh) remarked, that it would be an expensive business.

Mr. Goldsmith replied that it would be cheaper in the long run.
