UNEMPLOYED DEPUTATION

(To the Editor.)

■ -Sir,—"Still the other point of view" says that we "glibly ignore" that a certain statement was incorrect, namely, "that the deputation," with one exception, was composed of, Communists." We did not make that statement, so why does your correspondent wait for a'reply from us? We only referred to the spokesmen and what we said was substantially correct, namely, that with "one exception they were members or closely associated with the Communist official organisation." In saying this, we stated a fact. Your correspondent pretends to believe that the opponents of "workers" movements have applied the name "Communist" in order to discredit ■ it. He niust, be very green, or else think others are easy to hoodwink, because the name "Communist" is what these people call themselves; they belong to the Third Communist International, and if they_ label themselves "Communists" it is their own funeral'if that'name discredits their movement. ' ■ . v ■■". . Your correspondent makes another error when he said that we "hurried our leaders off to Moscow." We certainly leferred to that headquarters, but the men who "huiry off to Moscow" aie not our leadeis as a lule, they are the members ;of this Third, International section in New Zealand, who periodically go, to ]the headqua;ters of the declared encmv of our Empire to get instructions and learn 'the Ifctest methods of attack.—We aie^etc'., * • . n:z. welfare league. 14th July.
