ELECTION ECONOMY
(To tho Editor.)
Sir, —Your correspondent, "Taxpayer,* in last Saturday's issue, presents a valu* able and obvious means of saving th« country thousands, of pounds by using Government clerks at polling booths on election days, but I'm afraid they can't be spared. The man in, the street who has relatives in Government Departments knows -full, well that clerks could easily^ be sent to the Electoral Department for election days, but what he does not see is that it should not be done, or that they should get extra time off for it. They are being paid for the day, and since it extends over almost twelve hours twi» shifts could simply be worked of si* hours each.—l am, etc.,
SPENCEEIAN.
